ABOUT

So, why am I a photographer? The simple answer is you! It's all about you. To celebrate your story in a moment in time of you just being you. Nothing is posed or rehearsed. It's candid and real and in the moment. It's about capturing you as you are. It's about having fun and building relationships and making connections. It's about listening to the client and their needs and then exceeding them! I love the emotion and response when what I've captured is so profound your face lights up with excitement as we view the images together in your online gallery!

I've lived in the Spring/Woodlands area for about 14 years. I have a beautiful wife and two awesome kiddos that I love and adore! I love taking pictures and capturing memories! My photography started off by taking pictures of my famiIy. It then expanded to taking pictures of friends at special events. Now I professionally capture families, couples, babies and individuals in a mixutre of settings.

"Photography is more than taking a photo. It's telling a story in such a way that one is captivated and moved to live life differently."  - Michael Shea

A: We understand that not everything goes as planned during a wedding. We never pack up before the contracted time; and moreover we’re not leaving on the dot when the contracted time is up. Instead, we will ask you at the end of your contracted time whether or not you would like to extend. If you would like us to stay, we will charge the rates specified in your contract rounded to the closest 30-minute increment. Standard rates apply for overtime. Overtime is billed at the rate of $199/hour.

Q: If we cancel the wedding, will we receive our deposit back?
A: Unfortunately no. Deposits are used to reserve your date. Once we’ve reserved your date, we do not accept new clients for your date.

Q: How long before we see the photos?
A: Our goal is to have your proofs to you 2 weeks after your wedding day! 90% of the time we make that goal!  However, on occasion we are not able to do 2 weeks; in that case it will be 3 to 4 weeks.  Then you will pick your favorites so we can edit them to perfection.

Q: Do you have a Facebook page?
A: Yes! Check out our Facebook page (click to like our page)  Let's be friends!

Q: How has your experience in wedding photography helped you in difficult situations on a wedding day?
A: Knowing how to use your camera and being able to work with any lighting situation at any particular location are very important when it comes to dealing with unexpected situations.

Q: Do we get a copy of all the photos in the online gallery to keep for personal viewing?
A: We do not provide a copy of all the images. We eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expressions and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery. We will provide you with 150, 300 or 500 (based on which wedding package you choose) carefully edited images.  If 150, 300 or 500 is not enough you may also buy more.  You may buy 35 extra images for $99 or 80 for $199.

Q: Will my online proofs always be online and available to order later down the road?
A: No, the online proofing will not always be available. Once you have selected your favorites (150, 300 or 500 images) we purge the online gallery to make room for other clients.  However, we do put your favorites in an online gallery for one month for you to order prints, canvas’, wedding albums and other products.

Q: How much time should I schedule for our wedding photographs?
A: We recommend at the very least an hour for images of bridal party and bride & groom. The more time you schedule, the more images of yourselves alone that you’ll receive. It’s ideal to schedule photographs of Bride & Groom just before sunset. However, if you are unable to commit to that length of time, a bridal session can supplement timing-issues.

Q: What rights do I have to the digital prints?
A: You have the right to reprint images whenever you want. However you may not sell your images for profit or publish your images without the written consent of Michael Shea Photography.

Q: What all is included in your engagement/bridal session?
A: Engagement sessions come with 1 hr of photography at a beautiful predetermined location. Within that one location we will take photos at different spots so you will get many unique backgrounds and settings. Your engagement session includes 1 outfit change. We will take 200-400 photos during our time together. You get to choose 35 of your favorites from a private online gallery. The final product is delivered via Digital Download with 35 of your favorite images!

Q: What is an unplugged wedding and do you offer it?
A: Yes!  We encourage brides to have an unplugged wedding. We have 2 signs that read, “Welcome to our UNPLUGGED Wedding. We invite you to be fully present with us during our ceremony. Please turn off your cell phones & cameras. We promise to share all of the beautiful memories captured today. Thank You!”  If you would like to have an unplugged wedding let us know and we will bring the signs to your wedding free of charge!

Q: Can we customize packages?
A: Absolutely! We do not want to “lock you in” to a higher package that includes options you do not need. We are able to customize our packages to fit exactly what you want!

Q: Do you have backup equipment?
A: Our equipment is regularly updated and professionally maintained. Rarely do we encounter a problem but we do have a full set of backup equipment and lenses onsite at all weddings. In addition, we shoot crucial moments while carrying a 2nd backup camera in case, for example, one camera stops working during the ceremony processional.

Q: Should I tip my photographer?
A: I get asked this a lot. Tips are never expected but are always appreciated.

Q: I’m ready to book you as my photographer!  How do I do that?
A: Contact me via email smile@michaelsheaphoto.com or feel free to call me at 832-867-6845.
